Is SPRYE unique?

SPRYE is one of a growing number of independent non-profit organizations formed in recent years around the country as part of an “Aging In Place” (AIP) movement, otherwise known as the Village movement. Similar AIP Organizations exist in the communities of Bronxville, Greenwich, Larchmont/Mamaroneck, New Canaan, New Rochelle, Tarrytown, White Plains and Yonkers.

What is the legal and tax status of SPRYE?

SPRYE is a charitable corporation organized under New York State Law. Its tax exempt status as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service, which has also determined that donations to SPRYE are deductible under applicable sections of the Internal Revenue Code.

What role do volunteers play?

Volunteers play a vital role in the success of SPRYE. Whether or not they are members, volunteers of all ages are needed to help staff the office, provide much of the transportation and assist with other services and programs. Please click here for more information about volunteering.
